Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information I collect from people who visit my website or contact me about a job, what I do with that information, and how I keep it safe.

I’m Ashley, sole operator of Knock on Wood Whitsunday. I run this business on my own, so when you give me your details, you’re giving them to me, not to a company with a marketing department.

What I collect

When you fill out the quote form or contact me through the website, I collect:

  • Your name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Property address or location of the work
  • Details about the job you need done
  • Any photos you choose to upload

When you call, text, or email me directly, I receive your phone number or email address as part of the message itself.

When you visit the website, my hosting provider logs standard technical information automatically: your IP address, the pages you view, the time of your visit, and basic browser information. This is normal for any website and is used to keep the server running and identify problems or attacks.

I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Why I collect it

I collect your information to do the job you’re contacting me about. That includes:

  • Replying to your quote request
  • Arranging a site visit or written quote
  • Carrying out the work you’ve engaged me for
  • Sending you an invoice
  • Following up about warranty issues or future work if relevant

I do not use your information for marketing. I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t on-sell it to anyone.

Who I share it with

I don’t share your information with anyone unless one of the following applies:

  • My hosting and email providers store the data on my behalf. My website is hosted with Hosting Australia. My email runs on Google Workspace (Google). Both are reputable providers with their own security and privacy obligations.
  • Suppliers and subcontractors may need certain details (your address, the type of work) if they need to attend the job or supply materials. I share only what’s needed.
  • The law requires it. If a court order or other legal obligation requires me to disclose information, I’ll comply.

I do not sell your information to anyone, ever.

How long I keep it

I keep your information for as long as I need it to handle your job, plus a reasonable period after for tax, warranty, and record-keeping purposes. Australian tax law requires me to keep some business records for at least five years. Quote requests that don’t proceed are typically deleted within twelve months.

If you’d like me to delete your information sooner, get in touch and I’ll do it, subject to anything I’m legally required to keep.

How I keep it safe

I take reasonable steps to protect your information:

  • The website uses HTTPS encryption
  • My email accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication
  • My phone is locked
  • I don’t store credit card or banking details on my devices

No system is perfectly secure, but I do what’s reasonable for a small business handling the kind of information I handle.

Cookies and website analytics

The website uses standard cookies to function correctly. If I run analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) on the site, those tools may collect anonymous information about how visitors use the site, including which pages are popular, how long people stay, and what device they’re on. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Ask what information I hold about you
  • Ask me to correct it if it’s wrong
  • Ask me to delete it, subject to anything I’m legally required to keep
  • Make a complaint if you believe I’ve mishandled your information

Changes to this policy

If I update this policy, I’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, I’ll let active customers know directly.
